Quick Apply Part-time 3 hours ago Full Job Description A forward-thinking construction company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller/Bookkeeper to oversee the daily operations of the finance and accounting department.
As the Assistant Controller/Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing accounting and finance teams, accurate records of financial transactions, ensuring the timely payment of bills, processing payroll, preparing financial reports, and developing internal control policies and procedures.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and analysis, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including overseeing collections and payments Manage the company's general ledger and chart of accounts.
Supervise, coach, and mentor the accounting and finance teams and ensure their continued professional development Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures, and ensure that they are followed by all team members Manage monthly and annual accounting close processes, including reconciliation of bank accounts, payroll, and other accounts Assist in the annual audit and tax preparation process, including preparation of tax returns and coordination with external auditors Ensure compliance with all state and federal tax requirements, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and income tax.
Review and approve journal entries, accounts payable transactions, and accounts receivable transactions.
Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and generally accepted accounting principles.
Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting systems and procedures.
Provide support to the Controller and executive team in developing and executing strategic plans for the company's growth and success.
Needed to succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field At least three years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting Experience managing and supervising accounting and finance teams Experience with MS Office, accounting software, or similar platforms Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented and organized.
